Years in practice

From Our Clients

"I brought in my grandfather's Omega Seamaster — a watch I'd always assumed would cost a fortune to service and might never run properly again. Farouk assessed it first and explained exactly what it needed. The reconditioning was thorough and the written report was something I genuinely didn't expect. The watch now runs to within five seconds daily. I couldn't be more pleased."

"I'd been wearing my dive watch for years without thinking about the seals. After reading about gasket degradation I decided to get it checked. Springhaus replaced everything and did both the vacuum and pressure tests — which I hadn't found anywhere else in the area. They issued a proper certificate. The whole thing took four days. I'll bring it back in two years as recommended."

Tan Lee Chuan

Petaling Jaya, December 2025

"The vintage consultation was not what I expected — in the best way. I came in expecting a quick look and a vague answer. Instead we spent almost an hour going through my father's old Longines piece in detail. I left understanding the movement, the approximate production year, and why the dial shows the patina it does. The written summary was thoughtful and clearly written. The price was fair for what it covered."

Suraya Nordin

Ayer Keroh, February 2026

"My Seiko 5 Sports had been running erratically for a while. I'd been putting off servicing it because I assumed smaller workshops would either not know the movement or charge more than the watch was worth. Springhaus quoted a fixed price upfront, stuck to it, and returned the watch running cleanly. Communication was good throughout — they messaged me when they found some rotor wear and asked before proceeding."

"I sent my watch by courier from KL after calling first. They confirmed receipt quickly, gave me an assessment before starting work, and sent it back well packaged. The turnaround matched what they told me at the start. I appreciate that they were straightforward about what the service would and wouldn't include. The documentation is a keeper."

Nur Aisyah Latif

"I collect moderately and have used several shops over the years. What Springhaus does differently is explain things. I now understand what six-position regulation means and why it matters for a watch I wear daily versus one that sits in a drawer. The consultation on my 1960s Citizen was worth every ringgit — I came away knowing the piece better than I had in fifteen years of owning it."

Detailed Case Notes

Three service situations in more depth — how the issue presented, what was done, and what changed.

Automatic Reconditioning

1970s ETA-based Tissot, inconsistent power reserve

The situation

The client noted the watch would stop before 24 hours even when worn all day. The movement had not been serviced in over ten years.

What we found

Lubricant degradation throughout, particularly in the barrel and keyless works. Rotor bearing showed minor wear but remained functional. Mainspring had some set but was within serviceable limits.

Outcome

After reconditioning and regulation, the watch delivered a consistent 42-hour power reserve and ran within ±8 seconds across positions. Service completed in 11 working days.

Water Resistance Restoration

Citizen Promaster, worn for sea diving

The situation

The watch was rated to 200m but had not been resealed in five years. The client intended to continue using it for recreational diving in coastal Melaka.

What we found

Case back gasket had hardened noticeably. Crown gasket showed early degradation. Crystal seat was intact. Initial vacuum test indicated insufficient seal.

Outcome

All gaskets replaced; both vacuum and wet pressure tests passed at rated depth. Certificate issued. Completed in 4 working days.

Vintage Consultation

1950s pocket watch, inherited without provenance

The situation

An inherited piece with no documentation. The family believed it was Swiss but had no records of its origin. The owner wanted to understand it before deciding whether to service it.

What we found

Movement calibre identified as a mid-century Swiss lever, likely from the Schild Frères family based on architecture. Dial original with expected oxidation. One hand a period replacement. Case showed honest age-appropriate wear.

Outcome

Written summary provided with movement notes, authenticity observations, and service recommendations. Client chose to service — watch now runs again after decades.
