Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to things our clients often want to know before visiting.

How do I know if my watch needs a full reconditioning?

Signs that an automatic movement may benefit from servicing include a noticeably shorter power reserve than when the watch was new, gaining or losing more than a minute per day, inconsistent running, or unusual rotor sounds. If your watch hasn't been serviced in five or more years, a check is worth considering regardless of obvious symptoms.

Do you service all watch brands?

We work with a wide range of Swiss, Japanese, and vintage movements. During the initial consultation we'll let you know honestly if your particular movement falls within our scope of work. We don't take in watches we aren't confident servicing properly.

What does the water resistance testing involve?

We conduct both a dry vacuum test and a wet pressure test to verify seal integrity according to the watch's original water resistance rating. All gaskets — case back, crown, and where relevant the crystal — are replaced beforehand. A certificate documenting the test results is provided after service.

Can I send my watch by post?

We accept watches sent via registered courier with declared value insurance. Please contact us before sending so we can prepare for the piece and advise on appropriate packaging. We'll confirm receipt and provide an update within two working days of receiving the watch.

What happens during a vintage watch consultation?

We examine the watch externally — case, dial, hands, crown, crystal — identify the movement calibre where possible, make notes on overall condition and originality, and discuss the watch's history with you. The session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes and concludes with a written summary you can take away. No parts are removed.

Do you offer a service warranty?

Our service work is backed by a 12-month period during which we'll address any issues directly related to the service performed at no additional charge. This covers workmanship and lubrication; it does not extend to accidental damage or wear from continued daily use.
