Why Springhaus
The advantage of
working with care.
Watch servicing is not interchangeable. The approach, protocols, and honesty of the studio you choose determine whether your watch is better or merely different when it returns.
← Back to HomeWhat Sets Us Apart
Six qualities that shape how Springhaus approaches every watch that comes through the door.
Focused Expertise
We work on three defined service areas rather than offering a broad catalogue we cannot cover well. This focus means each service is something we have done hundreds of times, not something we are attempting for the first time.
Written Documentation
Every service produces a written record: what was found, what was done, and what was tested. You leave with documentation you can file alongside the watch — useful for insurance, future servicing, or resale.
Multi-Stage Testing
Watches aren't returned after visual inspection alone. Automatic movements undergo timing tests across six positions. Water-resistant cases go through vacuum and wet pressure verification before a certificate is issued.
Transparent Pricing
Service prices are fixed and communicated before work begins. There are no variable labour charges added after the fact. If additional parts are required, this is discussed and agreed before proceeding.
Realistic Turnarounds
We quote turnaround windows we can actually meet. Automatic reconditioning takes 10–14 working days. Water resistance restoration takes 3–5 days. Vintage consultations are scheduled appointments. No vague estimates.
12-Month Workmanship Period
If something related to our work fails within twelve months, we address it without additional charge. This isn't a marketing statement — it's a practical commitment that keeps us accountable to the quality of our own work.
Professional Expertise
Years at the bench, not on a course
Farouk Hasanuddin, who founded Springhaus and leads the technical work, developed his knowledge over more than a decade of working directly with movements — not through a weekend course or a certification designed to be completed quickly. The team at Springhaus has, between them, worked on several hundred calibres across Swiss, German, and Japanese origins.
This matters because watch movements are not uniform. A 1970s Seiko 6139 has different service requirements to a modern ETA 2824. An Omega 1012 behaves differently to a Rolex 3135. Familiarity with the specific movement — not just movement servicing in general — is what produces good outcomes.

Technology & Process
Right tools, used correctly
Modern watchsmithing tools are of genuine use when operated by someone who understands what the readings mean. An electronic timing machine tells you amplitude, rate, and beat error — but interpreting those numbers and knowing what adjustment to make requires knowledge, not just equipment.
At Springhaus, equipment is calibrated and maintained. We use it as part of a diagnostic and verification process, not as a substitute for understanding what's happening inside a movement.
Client Experience
We communicate throughout
Watch servicing involves entrusting something of personal value to someone else's care. We don't take that lightly. Clients are updated at key points in the process — when the watch is received, when initial assessment is complete, and before work begins. If anything unexpected comes up during the service, you hear about it before we proceed.
The vintage consultation service is built entirely around communication: a 45–60 minute session where we walk through what we find together, rather than handing over a report you have to decipher alone.

What We Offer That Others Don't
Water Resistance Certificates
After every water resistance service, we issue a written certificate recording the test method, the pressure applied, and the result. Few shops in Melaka offer this level of documentation.
No-Disassembly Vintage Assessment
Our consultation service evaluates vintage and inherited pieces without opening the movement — respecting originality while providing genuine insight into condition, identity, and service needs.
Melaka's Heritage Quarter Studio
We operate from a fixed, accessible location in central Melaka — not a pop-up, not a postal service, not a satellite of a larger chain. You know where to find us and who you're speaking to.
Pre-Work Agreement Approach
Nothing is done without your knowledge and agreement. Assessment findings are communicated before the service begins, giving you the option to adjust the scope if needed.
